Wednesdays

Wednesdays lately look like this: wake up early, get in the car and head to the ferry. Go upstairs on the ferry and get a breakfast sandwich (thanks Daddy!) and eat it while running around outside if it is a nice day, get to Bainbridge, drive past Frog Rock on the way to Nana and Papa's house, get to their house and find all the toys that are fun to play with, play, play, play, take a nap, play more, go home.

I work from home on Wednesdays and have dedicated the day to appointments and other details that are impossible to take care of otherwise. Nana is often a willing sitter for the terrific twosome so we often venture over to the Island. Fridays are Nick's day working from home and he takes care of the kiddos (usually reserving his work errands and other projects that he can do with the kids for that day). Although we have to get creative at times (for example, when Nick goes on assignment), all in all, this is working well for all of us.

Point in case: Finn is happy, happy, happy these days. We have taken him out of preschool because it was interfering with his naptime (and his mood and his bedtime and our sleeptime and on and on). He stays at home with the nanny, who chatters with him all day and honestly engages with him more than preschool anyway (the other night he was jumping on the bed and counted to 4 with his fingers which he had learned from her!!). Three days a week he walks a couple of blocks to an indoor sand volley ball court that hosts a "Little Diggers" open playtime where kiddos can dig and play in a massive sandbox for hours. Finn brings his favorite digger of the day (because the living room has turned into one giant digger parking lot: he now has at least 10 diggers) and off he (and Poppie and the Nanny) go!

We have had spectacular weather lately. The mountains are huge and snow covered on every horizon, the lighting has been beautiful and it is crisp and cold and it is days like these that make us so happy to be living here.
