Fearless is his middle name.

Finn is fearless. He started going down the slide by himself before he could walk. So of course, now that he can walk, he will walk up the slide.

This child has taught me a lot about letting go of control.

Click the movie to see why.

Big Day in the Garden

Somewhere in this photo is a little garden cherub. Can you spy him? xx

Real boys don't sleep with teddy bears

Nope.

They sleep with wooden dump trucks that weigh 12 lbs and take a lot of effort to get on the bed.

And in case you are wondering, here is what happened last night:

Big boy beds take some getting used to when you are 18 months in your brain but occupying a two and a half year old sized body.

Baby boy growing up and a new one right behind

We have started to notice that in more and more of the pictures we are taking of Finn, he is looking more and more like a little boy and less like a baby.

Which makes us miss the baby phase.

Which reminds us that in less than 4 months we will be back in the baby phase.

Which then gets us excited about our expanding family.

I feel really lucky that I have married a man who is as baby crazy as me. But after seeing this little face, who wouldn't be?

What happens when Daddy and I hang out for the day

We go to the International District and try on hats, eat weird foods and look at all the bright candy we can't have. It's a lot of fun.

This is what I do every morning at 7am

What we can't have anymore

We can't have baths without bubbles of course!

Finn's vocabulary is expanding exponentially and non-relatives are able to understand clearly what he is saying. He strings words together in coherant sentences and uses personal pronouns. And he does a lot of explaining and describing his word-- to Inca, to us when we are in the car, to himself. It is adorable.

'Bubbles' is a new word and at first I thought he was saying 'bottle' but that didn't make any sense because he was in the bath and reaching for the soap bottle.

Now, if he could only say 'mama, I am frustrated because I really want eggs on toast, not cereal for breakfast, and while you are at it, could you please hand me that spoon that I like to carry around with me?' instead of throwing a tantrum.

All in good time.

Our weekend

We had a wonderful, spotaneous weekend getaway to the San Juan Islands this weekend. We stayed at Doe Bay Resort on Orcas Island and soaked in hot springs, went swimming in Puget Sound (Nick and Finn), sat in the sun, hiked, ate fantastic food, chased deer (Inca) and in general realized that weekend getaways are more aptly suited for those people who don't have 18 month old children. Regardless, we had a blast.

On the way home, we stopped in Skagit Valley to see the tulip fields. This is one of the largest tulip growing regions outside of Holland, but we pretended we were in Europe for an hour.
