Fun on the ferry

It was a fun weekend! On Friday night we went over the Island and Uncle Ben and Auntie Mollie came over too. We spent Saturday morning at the Island Farmer's Market and had lunch with everyone before heading back to the city in the afternoon, put the kids to bed early and had some delightful Skype-ing with faraway friends. The weather has definitely taken a turn towards summer and I am not sure a more beautiful place exists when the sun is out in the Pacific Northwest.

I heart Daddy

And it shows on my face.

Playful Poppie

Last night after Finn went to bed, Poppie woke up full of beans and spent all of the evening playing with the adults.
Daddy reading a new book (thanks Aunt Terry!)
Braid-able hair (!)
Another picture of her long hair in the back (it is short every where else)
Standing
Playing with Chelsea who is in town (yay!)
Learning to crawl, but would prefer to just walk instead
Hop on Pop

Mid-ride stop

Going on shoots with Daddy can be a little bit boring. We have to wait patiently while he clicks and clicks and moves and clicks more. Finn and Poppie were such troopers on our Sunday shoot, especially when they were modeling in the back of the bike trailer and mommy rode back and forth, back and forth. So when Finn saw this park, it was a resounding yes to stopping and playing on the digger.

Meanwhile, our little flower was eating flowers with Daddy in the shade...

Bike ride!

This weekend we worked on an assignment for a national cycling magazine. So on Sunday morning, we packed up the kids and camera gear and went out for a 22 mile ride to some of the most beautiful and iconic Seattle bike paths and routes. It was an amazingly beautiful and warm day (the kids were bundled because it wasn't so warm in the early morning when we left) and we rode some new paths that we hadn't been on before. Nick got his shots and we all had a really fun day. Even these two grumpy faces enjoyed themselves once we got going.

Hello yogi Poppie. Hello blue Finn.

We will have more outtakes from the shoot later, but here is a little teaser of me modeling as a commuter:
Hello Seattle at sunset.

Little mouse rides a ferry

From Victoria BC to Port Angeles, WA. While brother Finn was chasing a little girl around and around and through people's legs and under chairs and around and around, Poppie was momentarily interested in Grandma Sue and I. Minutes later she was more interested in the chasing and demanded to be placed on the floor where she attempted to trip up the chasers with reaching arms every time they ran by. They blithely dodged her outstretched arms and she snorted in frustration.

Also, there is this cute reaction whenever Poppie's arms reach outwards, her mouth opens up. Because the inevitable conclusion is anything that gets into her hands or arms, is going straight in.

First merry go round

Pa took Finn on his first merry go round while we visited Butchart Gardens this past weekend. He loved it.

Water babies

Pretty little Poppie had her first experience swimming and she loved it! Here she is post-swim relaxed and enjoying being outside...

Meanwhile, on another planet, someone else just learned how to jump in the water by himself...

Whew!

There is a lot going on 'round these parts. I don't have any recent new pictures to share, but currently:
  1. Daddy came home from Chile and we all want to move there (...someday)
  2. Snopac Products Inc sold (!) yesterday after months of negotiation, but...
  3. I am still working fulltime and will be for the foreseeable future
  4. Pa and Grandma Sue are visiting from the UK
  5. Poppie is eating lots of solids and has pulled herself up to standing (but doesn't want to crawl)
  6. Finn is doing great and a really good boy
  7. We are going to Victoria BC this weekend for a mini-vacation (any recommendations?)
  8. My garden is blooming (hooray! spring is here!)
Life is bursting with opportunity and potential right now and we are enjoying the ride!

Fort Worden

This weekend we took Pa and Grandma Sue to Fort Worden in Port Townsend. It is a beautiful park with old bunkers from WWI that you can explore and climb on. Finn was alternately amazed and afraid. Some of it was really cool, mommy and some of it was kinda scary, mama, hold my hand. Finn is approaching the age of fear. Uncle Ben blows a cow horn like a conch and Finn asks him to stop because it's real-lee scaary, dat thing you have Unca Ben, I no like. Dinosaurs, monsters and things with sharp teeth are also really scary. So are bad dreams. And dark caves.

Didn't stop us from exploring around and going into some dark bunker rooms, but I also wonder if that is why he didn't sleep so well that night?

We eat solids

And no baby mush for this girl. She wants whatever we are eating, even if it's spaghetti bolognese!
