Wedding

We attended our first wedding in the UK, the marriage of Sarah and James, hands down the most beautiful wedding I have ever been to. Every moment was carefully planned and executed and felt utterly effortless the whole way. I felt honored to be a part of it.

Finn was a pageboy and dressed in tops and tails, matching his beloved Uncle BJ to the last detail. I was worried about him getting dressed in the outfit to begin with, but he was perfect (and received a ride-on digger as a reward from the bride and groom).

Poppie was a flower girl at the last minute and dressed in the sweetest little white dress and shoes, complete with a handful of babies breath flowers in her hands. She adored the bridesmaids and was amazed as she walked down the aisle behind the bride, dressed in the same colors.

During the ceremony there were some moments in the church that were less than perfect, especially when Daddy gave his speech and both children wanted to be with him at the alter. Finn went outside to find good spots to dig with the anticipate digger and Poppie roamed the aisle, finally settling into the arms of the church warden who proudly proclaimed he had a new girlfriend when she presented him with her boquet.

After the wedding, tails came off and Finn prepared for the next step in the plans, a ride on a real WWII tank that was to carry the wedding party from the church a mile down the road to the reception tents in a gorgeous field overlooking the beauty of the Cotswolds.

Finn took it upon himself to direct traffic in the village, letting an oncoming car know "stop buddy, stop, there's a tank coming through!" Poppie watched Finn with her usual admiration and wanted to ride on the tank too.

Finn and Daddy rode on the tank, while Mommy and Popps drove the car (I am proud to say I am almost as comfortable on the left side of the road as the right).

And the lovely bride and groom arrived in a gorgeous Mercedes, to an adoring crowd of celebrants, none so adoring as little Finn (who worships the ground that Uncle BJ walks on because 'Uncle BG drives real diggers and tractors mommy, and he is going to take me with him!'

It couldn't have been a more beautiful and perfect day and we are all so proud of Mr and Mrs Brittain-Jones! Thank you for letting us be a part of your magical day!
